Mike Beever is a trained piano tuner & technician and studied Piano Technology from 1985-87 at the Leeds College of Music, UK under the tutelage of Alastair Lawrence (BBC, Leeds International Piano Competition, HRH Queen Elizabeth II) of Lawrence & Nash Pianos, Otley, West Yorks, UK.
After completing his training Mike took an apprenticeship with Stephen Brandon Pianos of York, UK and worked there from 1987 to 2003 specialising in repairs, stringing, tuning, voicing & sales. Mike also worked for a brief spell at Pianissimo Pianos in Granada, Spain, one of the premium piano houses in Europe.
Mike emigrated to New Zealand in 2003 after obtaining employment at Keytone Pianos of Nelson. After a few months Mike took over the business and eventually went independent as a sole piano tuner/technician specialising in tuning, voicing and minor repairs.
In 2003 the piano business had 660 clients, today Mike services around 3000 pianos around the top of the South Island of New Zealand and most of these clients are situated in Nelson, Stoke, Richmond, Motueka & Blenheim.
